About me

My journey to working in mental health began many years ago when I had my own therapy for anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder in my early 20’s.

I was inspired by the thought of helping others and I set off to study a Psychology degree with the Open University whilst working full time in Human Resources. During this time I also did voluntary placements with charities such as Victim Support.

In 2010, at the age of 30, I took the leap to leave my previous career and started to train as a psychological wellbeing practitioner within the NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service. In this role, I helped people experiencing common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression whilst also running a wide variety of workshops, groups and seminars.

I then progressed to training in CBT in 2013 with the University of Sheffield. I did a CBT Masters degree at Bolton University in 2017. I began my training in EMDR in 2015 and have been accredited since 2019. In my time working in mental health I have treated hundreds of clients with a wide variety of problems, both through individual therapy and in group therapy settings. I have also done university lecturing at York St John University.
